GHAZAL Ghassan

Born in Lebanon in 1961, Ghazal received his Master of Fine Arts from the university of Quebec at Montreal in 1997. He paints, sculpts, photographs and creates installations and performances.

Ghazal conceives art as an experimental and universal language of communication that conveys cognitive and emotional values. He studies the abstraction of the object and the way it inserts into space, seeking to establish a dialogue between artist, work and viewer. His installations are based on the detachment of utilitarian, banal objects from their everyday functions, giving them a new identity and charging them with symbolic and emotional value. Ghazal currently resides in Beirut, where he teaches at the Lebanese American University. His work has been shown in solo in Beirut and Canada since the early nineties, and in more than twenty collective exhibitions in Lebanon, Dubai and Quebec.
